On this page, you will find my five car hoods that tell the story of the hippie era of the 1960s. The series covers themes such as the Beatniks, the Merry Pranksters, the Hog Farm commune, the unforgettable Woodstock festival, and the journey along the Hippie Trail.

Beatniks" (2020)

Picture
"Beatniks" is the first work in the "Hippie Time" series.
The "Beat Generation" was defined by a lifestyle that was highly unusual—and often frowned upon—in the 1950s. Literature and traveling across the country were key features of this way of life. The Beatniks are also considered the founders of the hippie scene.

>> MERRY PRANKSTERS <<

(2020)

Description: "GLOW, GLOW, GLOW!!!" Ken Kesey, founder of the Merry Pranksters, and some of his fellow travelers—such as Ken Babbs, Neal Cassady, Mountain Girl, Cathy Casamo, Paul Krassner, Stewart Brand, Paul Foster, Del Close, Tim Leary, and Owsley Stanley. The Merry Pranksters were known for their "Acid" festivals. They set out on their first "Acid" journey across the States in the first "art bus"—lovingly designed by the group and named "FURTHER."
The hood is part of my "Hippie Time" series.

Woodstock (2020)

Woodstock remains world-famous to this day and is arguably the most well-known festival of the hippie era. Performers at this celebration of freedom and love included:
The Who * Joe Cocker * Country Joe McDonald * Jimi Hendrix * Santana * Jefferson Airplane * Sly & the Family Stone * Janis Joplin * Richie Havens * Grateful Dead * Ten Years After * Joan Baez * Canned Heat * Creedence Clearwater Revival * The Band * Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

HOG FARM (2020)

Picture
The "Hog Farm" hood belongs to the "Hippie Time" series.
Wavy Gravy and Evan Engber founded the Hog Farm in the USA during the 1960s; it became a well-known commune of that era. The hood features images of some of the members alongside scenes from their festivals. These events were regularly organized by the community and were famous for the tolerance and consumption of drugs such as acid and weed. Their lifestyle resembled a theatrical performance. Thanks to their eccentric clothing and unique way of life, they soon came to be called "flower children"—also known as "hippies." The era of the hippies is in the past, but it will always be remembered.

Hippie Trail (2025)

Picture
The "Hippie Trail" hood is the fifth in our themed series "Hippie Time"dedicated to "alternative living"—hippies and, for lack of a better term, unconventional life philosophies. Yet, we believe this is precisely the lifestyle that represents "the right way to live." As you know, Mary and I have traveled extensively, striving to experience as much of life as possible. To us, this *is* living: breaking free from societal norms, seeking out and experiencing the unusual, enjoying the freedom the world offers, and exploring—and learning from—different cultures and people. This has been our motto since our youth, and it always will be. A new adventure with our "Tigerlily" is currently in the works, and who knows—perhaps the trip will take us along parts of the Hippie Trail. Because we both love this way of life and admire the pioneers who first embraced it, we created another hood to celebrate this lifestyle. It is important to remember that, back in the 60s and 70s, this was anything but ordinary. We take our hats off to those pioneers and thank them for paving the way; that is why we have immortalized various scenes from that era on this hood.
